Spring Clean-up
Spring in Prince George.....
Mornings are warming up, weather is unpredictable, water everywhere, and time to clean up after a winter of snow and cold, although this winter it seems that Vancouver received more snow than we did here in Prince George.
Keep in mind with inversions, and spring comes air quality advisories. So stay safe, keep others in mind while you do your spring clean up, and let's all have a great summer season.
Speaking of summer and spring clean-up, it is time to start thinking of pruning trees and shrubs. Follow a couple of basic steps with all plants before getting into specific pruning technics for each variety.
- Remove Broken or damaged branches
- Remove dead or dying stems, branches, twigs
- Remove diseased branches
Pruning is not complicated, but it does require patience and some knowledge to be done properly. If you are the type of person who likes to do it yourself with maybe a little guidance Art Knapp runs pruning clinics every spring (Click Here). If you like to read about how to do things and then do it yourself my favorite book on pruning is The Pruners Bible, another good one is Pruning an Illustrated Guide.
